Based out of Rockland County, NY and New York City, In Question was formed in early 2003 by Rob Blackness. Throughout various line up changes, In Question has quickly developed a reputation as the band to see and hear. Their music is ever growing and always changing. Once you think you’ve gotten them figured out, what style or genre they are, it changes. From catchy hooks, to metal guitar riffs, to atmospheric ambiance, or from three-minute pop songs to endless jams, In Question is different every time.
On Guitar, Keyboard, and Lead Vocals is Rob Blackness. Blackness cut his teeth in various local bands, including the pop rock band BLacK RoseS, where he was the singer and guitarist from 1999-2003. A natural songwriter, Rob has been playing one instrument or another since age 5. A life long lover and student of music, when not on stage Rob can be found either strumming an acoustic guitar, purchasing records, or in his studio producing other bands. His unique vocal style, solid guitar playing and song writing are the core of In Question.
“I like to keep things interesting,” says Blackness, “music is a living thing, deeply a part of who we are as humans. At an In Question show you never know what you are going to get. The songs won’t always sound as they do on the album; the choice of covers songs will always change. You can’t even be sure what instrumentation you are going to see. All you can know is that it will be an experience…and the best part of life is the experience.”
Also on Guitar is James Mirarchi. James has played music with Rob for years, as both a founding member of former band BLacK RoseS and as an intermittent member of In Question throughout the band's existence. James draws his playing from many facets of music, allowing to him add an aggressive, unique, and awe-inspiring style to In Question's sound.
On Bass Guitar and Programming is Tony Hung. A former member of seasonal band Steel Cricket, Tony has been a member of In Question since the beginning. A guitarist and bassist for over ten years, Tony is also an accomplished recording engineer and website designer. With an appreciation for diverse music that is at times overwhelming, Tony brings a huge amount of energy and sincerity to the table. His dynamic bass playing and sense of rhythm lock the groove into In Q sound.
Last, but certainly not least is Kenny Crowell on Drums and Percussion. The newest member in a long line of In Question drummers, Kenny brings new life to the drum kit and much welcomed desire and creativity. A life long fan of music, Kenny draws influence from all types of musicians. From guitarists like Zakk Wylde, bassists like Mike Inez, and of course drummers like John Bonham, Sean Kinney, and many others. Aside from being a drummer, Kenny also rocks the percussion kit at acoustic gigs. His solid tempos and beats provide In Q with a firm backbone.
